$7 Secrets Version 2.7.2 Has Been Released

Hey, folks! $7 Secrets Version 2.7.2 of the scripts has been released. Here’s what you’ll find changed from version 2.7:

-> Admin panel image (adminlogo.png) is back in package.
-> Script version numbers are consistent between components and reflect the correct release.

Those two should be self-explanatory

-> Removed ability to collect Country / State / Zip code information.

Here’s the deal: this feature had some major problems, even in the 2.7.1 beta. Because the feature has dubious value (the script doesn’t even use this info to tell PayPal to charge shipping on physical products), I have decided not to spend time fixing the remaining bugs for this release. If you need this feature, tell me and I’ll consider adding it to a future release.

-> Removed questionable verbiage from the salesletter template.
-> Added link to skip squeeze page to the squeeze template.

If you’re not already familiar with these issues brought up in John Counsel’s free Seller Beware! report, you can get a copy here: http://www.sellerbeware.info/select/

-> Changed PayPal cancel URL when customer cancels OTO transaction, now returns to OTO sales page.

Following on to 2.7’s bug fix, the IPN handler now correctly records the transaction amount for non-USD currencies when reporting suspected fraud.

Go ahead, use mixed case if you want. Don’t do that with any of the folder names and download filenames unless you know what you’re doing, though. It’s always best to use lowercase for your folder/file names, since many users will type in lowercase and webserver pathnames are case-sensitive.

Several Bug Fixes.

Whoops! I’ll try to avoid these in the future by beta testing new versions.

The version 2.7.2 archive is available from the link in the report. The archive also contains a new version of the $7 Secrets report. No substantial changes have been made to the report; it’s just been updated to reflect recent developments.

The archive does not contain a new installation guide for the scripts. That’s next on my list of things to do.

If your not using the $7 Secrets Script your missing out.
